Spyware, Adware, Trojans, Viruses – What is the Difference Between All These Computer Menaces?

from:

When the casual web surfer or computer junky finds that their computer is not running the way it should, it should be obvious to them what the problem is. Sometimes however, the person may indeed not know. Perhaps they are quite handy on a computer, yet have never seen the problems they are facing now. Many times even the biggest of IT firms have troubles identifying and eliminating a pest from the computer. What happens when the common home computer user notices that their machine is acting kind of funny? Sometimes, they go directly to the source of the problem in the first place; unbeknownst to them they walk right into a trap.

With so many hackers and online menaces these days, it is really hard to determine who is on the up and up, and who is not. Some of these sites even shell out their own version of a reputable product, yet in a far more friendly packages, of course. For example, you have found that you have Spyware inserted on your computer. You go to your browser, and type in anti Spyware, what you get is a number of companies and websites all dealing with that very same problem. So, as you are scanning through all the various companies, whether you like it or not, you are still being watched. You stumble on this one site and it looks pretty legit. It has a free download or demo of the version they are trying to sell. This is alone with many other models that they sell however; this is the king of the crop. Funny how that is always said, no matter the site or product.

You download the free demo, and assume it is going to do what it is intended to do. It doesn’t! Now why would that not surprise? It is a free demo, not intended for the true removal of said pests. It is merely for your chance to get familiar with the product, this will in turn prone you to buy the one you know best. What is happening however is you are being plugged with oodles and oodles of Adware. Get you look for support from a company on a computer pest, only for them to dump another one in your laps to go alone with the first. Sometimes people would assume this is a virus, not all the nasty programs on the net are indeed viruses, for what it is worth though, and they may as well be. Here are a few informative remarks on these pests; this may help you in determining exactly what kind of problem you may be facing.

Trojan: No, a Trojan is not a virus, as some believes. This is a program that gets into your computer and affect the confidentiality of the user. It enters a computer dressed as a harmless program, hence the name Trojan. These are relatively easy programs to detect and remove. They are of the minimal to medium threat level.

Adware: This is where you see a vast amount of advertising on your computer, this can come in many forms, including banners or pop ups. Many times this program gets in with the consent of the user, sometimes it does not need permission, and just walks on in. it affects your home page, your browser, and can mess with your search pages as well. It is often difficult to determine its functionalities.

Spyware: this is a nasty program; it attacks your computers cookies, and monitors your net activities. This will then relinquish your personal information to the highest bidder on sale. This will in turn allow these creeps to pester you on a continual basis. This is another program that can be installed without consent, or by the unwittingly pc user allowing it to happen.

Viruses: this is the mean kid on the block when it comes to pests. It can do irreversible damage, short term or long term destruction or it can be made to simply annoy. There are so many ways a virus can enter a computer that keeping up with it is a chore.
